Barbara Dean Roebuck and Edgar Russell Johnson, Jr. were married in a small family ceremony in a chapel of their hometown church in in Robersonville, NC, on August 21, 1960. They met in high school and after college for both, time in the Navy for Russell, and a banking career for Barbara, they decided to start a life together. They honeymooned in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.
Now, sixty years later, they have a home nearby in West Jefferson and set out to the same spot they visited on their honeymoon to recreate the photos and enjoy memories. Barbara and Russell are still very active and engaged with family and community and have three grown daughters, three sons-in-law, eleven grandchildren, and five grand dogs.
